Care Programs
In 2008 and 2009, the EFP developed four forensic psychiatric care programs in collaboration with the forensic psychiatric clinics. These care programs describe the state of the art in diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, based on evidence based practices for clinical forensic psychiatry. The care programs are focused on the following specific patient groups:
- Patients with personality disorders
- Patients with sexual offending behaviour
- Patients with schizophrenia and related disorders
- Patients who need long-term forensic psychiatric care. <<You can download the English summary here>>
In 2010, a fifth forensic psychiatric care program was developed, which was derived from the existing care programs. This general care program contains the common denominator of the specific care programs and is therefore suitable for the forensic population as a whole.
Updates
The developments in the forensic field are fast. The care programs therefore are 'work in progress' and should be periodically updated. The EFP coordinates and facilitates this process, in which professionals in the field have an important role. The EFP presents the updates in online MindMaps, which makes the information easily accessible and modifiable.
